Back in January I was appointed head Coach of Manilla Cycling Race Team in Teesside. Manilla was setup as a new team at the end of 2013 for local cyclists who wanted to become more serious with their riding and looking to compete at regional level. Having raced competitively myself for the previous 3 years and together with my coaching knowledge from various other sports and fitness I jumped at the opportunity to join the team.
The team currently train together twice a week, race specific high intensity sessions on a Monday evening and Strength & Conditioning sessions with Peak Performance Sport Academy on a Wednesday evening. Individuals will then also incorporate their own endurance & interval based sessions themselves before the team comes back together on a weekend to compete.
The team has started the season an excellent 3rd place finish at Velo 29 Winter Series Round 2 and has continued the success into the first two rounds of the Spring Series at Middlesbrough Cycle Circuit with a 4th, 7th, 7th, 9th and 10th places across both races.
